General Details
The URI townhouses are conveniently located at 58 Fortin Rd, directly behind the Alumni Center and Dunkin Donuts on top of campus. They are only 125 yards to the Quad and student classrooms as well as being across the street from the Emporium, a collection of shops and eateries.
The university is in the middle of a growth explosion, as is evidenced by the many new facilities on campus that are either now on-line or about to come on-line. The growth and great facilities have led to many more students wanting to attend URI and live on campus for more than just their freshmen year. The problem is there is not enough housing on campus to accommodate the need. Traditionally, students have been forced to live off campus up to 10 miles away in an area referred to as “down-the-line”. Down-the-line housing is usually summer cottages that have been inadequately converted for winter use.
We now have a solution to that problem, the chance for a few wise parents to have their kids live on campus during their education at URI. Just think about it…wouldn’t it be great if you did not have to move your kids belongings in and out multiple times during the academic year. Just do it once! Some other benefits of living in a townhouse on campus include:
- Walk to class
- Own parking space
- No car required
- Live with your friends
- No meal plan required
- Meets fire codes
